Commonwealth of Glenhaven
The Glenhaven Commonwealth formed when Mistglen, Whiteglen, and Osterglen, the three glens surrounding the southern edge of the Greathill Mountains combined their resources to get through a particularly harsh winter. After the discovery of large veins of magic-infused ores within the Greathills, Glenhaven's influence has begun to greatly increase as Mistglen and Whiteglen became centers of magical research. Recently the glens have been importing magical materials from all over the world, including some of the golden needles from the great tree of Giltbough. The nation is ruled by committee made up of the leaders of the three glens and representatives from the outlying towns and villages.
Founding
Before the signing of the Glenhaven Compact, the three major glens and the surrounding villages and towns were independent settlements that alternated between open trade and bitter land disputes. Fifty years ago, following a poor harvest season and a harsh winter killed many of their people, leaders from the three glens met to make an agreement to share resources between their settlements to prevent such tragedies in the future. This agreement would be known as the Glenhaven Compact.
