Encounters

The encounter is played out as a social encounter. Jerberg will not release Edric for anything less than a share of the treasure and will argue share. His opening offer is 50% off the top, by can be talked down to 25%. He will accept no less than 25 and if the players continue to attempt to haggle beyond that point, he will throw them out and refuse to see them anymore. Jerger uses the stats of a Bandit Captain, but replaces the captain's skills in Athletics for Persuasion and Deception for Perception.

The actual mechanics of the negotiation will be simple opposed tests. All of the regular social skills will be viable options, however prior to use the player must describe their tactics using body language, specific phrasing and everything in order to justify their rolls. They will then each make offers, with Jerberg starting at 50%. They will then make their opposed rolls. If the characters win, he will drop by 5% if the players win their offer must come up by 5%. After five checks, the bargaining is done and the price is set at what they argued.

NOTE: Jerberg will not accept anything less than 25% and he will refuse to engage in the bargaining until then.
Show spoiler
The percentage they agree to here will actually be deducted from the treasure prior to the characters getting their cut. While easier than breaking him out or solving the murder, this route does come with the cost.
