Luca - Disciple of Magic

The first student of Perlachio Zenfellon, it is unknown how long he served at the feet of his master before the rest of the students came along. Some say it might have been millennia.   That they were of the same species and of similar appearance is evident. While they both fiercely denied the claim that Luca was Perlachio's offspring, they never directly denied a distant kinship. In fact, Luca was once heard saying that he was a distant descendant of Perlachio. Though at another time, Luca made a comment that due to Perlachio's age, all on his world could claim to be related to the Great Teacher.   He was master of spellcraft and alchemy and wrote extensively about the works and studies of Perlachio. With Perlachio's help, he created the Sparrow's Sprig, though at the time it was merely a spell book which went by another name. He would be the only student to lose his item, having it stolen on one of his journeys. It would be decades before he regained it.   He made a pendant which would allow him to seek out and find his spellbook on a distant world rich in nature magic. In seeking out his spellbook, he in turn had to master the nature magic of that world. When he found the book, it was not in the possession of the original thief, but of a powerful storm giant druid.   With little information known about the actual encounter, this is what is known. Finding the druid was a great task and when Luca did, he led one of the great enemies of the druid straight to him, an ancient blue dragon. In a three-way battle, they fought for various reasons. The storm giant to gain the pendant which Luca had created. Luca to regain his book. And the great dragon for retribution on the storm giant for evils he had committed.   The storm giant proved of greater power than both the dragon and Luca, forcing them to combine their powers to take the giant down. Mortally wounded, Luca sought to stave off impending death by transforming into a great treant, the pendant safely hidden in his heartwood. This was a mistake as one of the powers of the cloud giant was to transfer his essence to any living tree. He did so.   Taking control of Luca's body, the storm giant fought continued the fight against the dragon. The dragon lashed out and with a great heave, expelled the finality of its power in a great bolt of electricity, coursing it into Luca's tree form, petrifying much of his body.   The dragon fell dead. Luca was now mortally wounded again while in tree form, his last act of will to trap the storm giant in his dying form, not allowing the storm giant to flee and reform into his own body. Both of them died together.   Sometime later, Ottavian The Traveler would find the electrically petrified remains of Luca. Taking the remains back to Perlachio, he pleaded with his master to restore Luca back to life. Perlachio was greatly reluctant to do this, stating that the barrier of death should never be crossed lightly and that if he brought Luca back, Luca would experience death over and over, never finding final release.   The gather students still insisted, so Perlachio eventually gave in. Luca was brought back, with elements of the storm giant and the dragon which killed them intermixed in his body. He now stood taller, nearly nine feet and had parts of him made of wood, parts of him scaled with the skin of a dragon. All of his skin was light blue as that of a storm giant.   Perlachio took the petrified heart of Luca and gave it back to him, saying that this amulet was now his heart stone and his to keep. It was the essence of his life. The book was now contained in the essence of the heart stone and so he would not lose it again, Perlachio chained the book to Luca's soul.   With a final warning, Perlachio told Luca that while he would have great control over all things electrical, he would also be susceptible to its power and to avoid great emanations of it as he would have greater susceptibility to its effects. Perlachio warned him that as he had once been killed by it, death would seek him time and time again in the same manner.
