Princept
The Princept is the ultimate office of the Senate, and the aspiration of many ambitious Senators. The Princept holds ultimate power in the agenda of the Senate, they may call the assembly and put forth legislation. While the Rex Maxus presents legislation drafted by other Senators, it is the choice of the Princept on which will be voted on, and their own legislation may always be placed ahead of any other. The Princept holds the right to veto the rulings of any other member of the Senate, including their co-Princept if they so choose. The Princept guides the direction of the entire Empire, deciding what will even be discussed for their year, and commands the armies of Ahntier.
Each year two Princepts are chosen to rule, and do so simultaneously. While in office the Princepts are immune to actions of the Senate, and cannot be accused of any crime with the exception of treason.

- 42 years of age.
- Achieved the Rank of Arbitas
Requirements
Unlike other ranks, which are elected from within the Senate itself, the position of Princept is elected by the people. Each year the candidates for Princept campaign to gain the support of not only their faction in the Senate, but the people of the Empire as well. As such, the only real requirement for a Qualifying candidate is the support of the people of the Empire.
Appointment
Princepts are elected three months before their appointed year, so they have time to prepare. At this point a general assembly is called, consisting of all free civilians who are near enough to come and vote. Each voter marks a tally on a huge slate, so everyone present can see who they place their vote in. The two candidates witht he highest number of tallies by the end of the day become the serving Proncepts for the next year.
Duties
The Princept is the driving force of the Senate. They decide what legislation will be heard and voted on, and hold the authority of veto. They must reside over all elections for their year, and are expected to fight the wars the Senate deems necessary.
Responsibilities
- Call the Senate to Assemble and vote.
- Maintain order in the Senate.
- Determine or Propose legistlation for a vote.
- Veto of legislation.
- Propose war!
- Lead the armies of the Empire.
- Oversee the election of officials.
Benefits
Princepts wield vast authority in the Empire, and their words are often treated as law by others. A Princepts heir can even forge an entire politcal career on this legacy alone. While there is no change in salary, many individuals will seek to pay a former Princept for their support, or for their words. On top of this, becoming Princept all but guarantees the governorship of at least two provinces.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Upon being elected Princept, a Senator is given a purple sash embroidered with gold trimming and the symbol of their house and the Empire. A special plaque is made to be placed at the entrance of the Senators home, declaring their place as a Princept of the Empire of Ahntier. On top of the many individuals who would gladly serve a Princept for their own gain, the Princepts household is awarded four more slaves, and an additional 4 Lictors.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Once elected, the Princept cannot be removed from office.... legally.
