Much of this information was uncovered when Dane cast Legend Lore on the Staff of Sacrifice. During the process, the party saw from the viewpoint of Gwendolyn Fairspring who did research into the item. During the process she discovered a series of cults that would randomly pop up with similar symbols to each other, although well separated by space and time. She proceeded to do research into these cults for the rest of her life.

Symbology

There's an hourglass with a single grain left in the top, two snakes, one white with angel wings one dark with bat wings, the snakes knock the hourglass over and a single the grain of sand falls into the heart of a dying tree.
