The Baroness Erendiel Maressa has inherited her position from her mother. Erendiel, called "Ere" by family & close friends, inherited her title and position when she was 35 years old, after her mother died suddenly of respiratory distress.
Erendiel is a stunning woman, with sharp cheekbones, a thin nose, and black hair that falls to the middle of her back with light blue highlights. The blue highlights are also an inheritance, a remnant of Merfolk in past branches of her paternal family tree. This blending of races is seen as a positive trait for the Ruler of Uisgern by the people she governs.
The Baroness is a compassionate and intelligent Ruler, driven by a desire to do the best for her people. She is frequently seen consulting with various Scholars at the College of Kinderven, both as their Patron, and as a woman curious about the world and innovation.

Personal history
Currently 40, Erendiel inherited her position at 35, when her mother suddenly died from respiratory issues. She was despondent for many days and unable to step into the role properly. Thankfully, her maternal aunt Sharonne had been educated and trained in her youth to take the position in case her sister Theodosia had been unable to become a mother. Sharonne was able to rule quietly behind the scenes until Erendiel managed to control her grief, and take her hereditary post.
Sharonne continues to function as one of her niece's most trusted advisors.
Erendiel has thus far been unwilling to settle down and choose a spouse that would provide an heir for the Province. She seems to prefer female lovers, but does admit the occasional man into her quarters. When pressed, she will admit the need for such dalliances to continue the family line, but sees no need to hurry that part of her life along.

Erendiel was educated at first by private scholars, who taught the youngster to read, write, and perform various forms of math, as well as basic comportment and social graces.
When she left childhood behind, she began attending classes at the College of Kinderven while still living at Maressa Manor. She excelled in Imperial History, Theoretical Governance, Trade and Economics, and Defence classes. She was known by both her peers and her Professor Scholars as an avid reader, often reading almost anything she felt would increase her intelligence.

Erendiel currently serves as the ruling Baroness over Eras and the surrounding province of Uisgern.

Erendiel is still curious, and still an avid reader. She tries to remain open-minded, and yet questioning in an ongoing attempt to increase her mental prowess and intelligence.
Morality & Philosophy
She privately believes that "the current Emperor and his floozy have no interest in doing what is right for Uclandians", although very few know she feels this way. Erendiel believes that it is her job to improve the lives of all Uisgernians first, and then those Uclandians who wish to pursue more comfortable lives through education and service.
Taboos
She cannot abide cruelty to children or animals, and has personally whipped confirmed abusers. In a singularly rare occurrence, she personally beheaded a man who raped his daughter.

Motivation
Erendiel is driven by curiosity & a need to leave a lasting legacy in the history of the Empire and the province. She believes that the way to do this is to foster & encourage the development of new technologies and systems that will make the lives of her people, and eventually all Uclandians, more comfortable.
Hygiene
Erendiel is always clean & well-dressed, unless gardening. If she's training or gardening, her black hair is held back in a braid, which shows off her blue highlights.

Erendiel enjoys reading, gardening, and sword-training when she can convince one of her personal Guard to spar with her.
