Knodenlort
The Knodenlort is an Ardent who has been appointed by their peers to be something of a governor of an Amt. These Knodenlorten have power over the other Ardents in their Amt. The Knodenlorten answer technically to the Azenlorten, though in practice are rarely subject to review and are often left alone within their Amter, checked to some degree by their subordinates.
Often when an Azenlort resigns or passes, the Knodenlort of the Amt from which the former Azenlort hails is the obvious pick for the next member of the The Council of Ash. In the event that the resignation or death comes during the middle of an Azenfrist, the Knodenlort assumes a position pro tempore and would be replaced with another Ardent when the next Azender occurs.
