The Badlands

The Badlands are situated in the north section of The Wastelands with no known inhabitants (though there has been an occasional sighting of strangers by a Dragon-kin or two). Apart from the Harpies - but isolating monsters don't really count, right?
Wrecked by magic during the first 3 Magic Wars, the lands have little to no vegetation nor water. When they were first created, there was grass section and small, sturdy vegetation, but the wars tore much of that away. There was also a large lake that has not held water for many generations now. Most Elves don't even have memories of water there. 
After a number of centuries since the last Magic War, some of the vegetation has started to reappear. One might ask if a stranger had something to do with it. If the Council hadn't forgotten about them, that is.
