High Priest Yoshinami Sujio (a.k.a. 好並 筋央)
Summary:
Strength, discipline, and perfection have long been tenets in Yoshinami Sujio's family. This handsome young man is no exception. At least, not anymore. As the tenth heir of the Yoshinami family of priests serving at the Pools of Perfection, Sujio had high expectations placed upon him from birth. Ten is a holy number in those devotees of Izanagi-no-Mikoto, as it is seen to encompass all numbers before it in a perfect union. A divine sum. The fact that the young Yoshinami displayed a perfect memory only raised the demands upon him further. Sujio, however, did not meet his expectations. As an adolescent, he sneaked from the Pools most every night and stole into the capital, seeking lovers and rivals. His strikingly handsome face, inherited from years of attractive miens before him, made certain that he had no shortage of either. The many scraps which he found himself in led to a brutal education in street fighting, as well as the many scars carved upon his body. After many years of this behavior, and more than ten times the berating from his parents, Sujio had had enough. He left the Pools of Perfection for good, intent on becoming a wandering monk or finding some lord to take him in as a samurai. Before he made it too far, however, he found himself in the care of an old potter in the heart of the capital's slums. This man was a specialist in Kintsugi, the ancient art of repairing shattered pottery with gold to form a work whose beauty exceeded even the original. In the same way, the kindly old man repaired Sujio's broken soul. When he left the capital, Sujio did not return to the Pools of Perfection. His scars no longer marred his body, but shone with golden radiance, and he was complete. Finally perfect not as the heir of the Yoshinami Family, but as himself. Just Sujio. An emissary of Izanagi, determined to spread perfect revelation as far as he might.
