Summary

When Parapara Starlight was first getting together, founding members Akuhara Omenosuke and Kyōdō Shinsaburō had a problem. Both were skilled at vocals, but didn't have anyone who could play an instrument; not even a guitarist. The young men had music in their hearts and in their voices, but without a track to back them up, they simply couldn't shine as brightly as they wanted to.
Shinsaburō's cat, Kaichi, was a cunning sort. Though only an animal, he was a cunning critter, and saw the longing in his master's eyes. So it was that Kaichi made a deal with what he calls "a Buddha." He became a Yōkai a full ninety-five years early, and gained the skills needed to shred a guitar. In return, he would never be able to achieve fully human form.
Truthfully, this was fine for Kaichi. He was happy to have a chance to help Shinsaburō, who had cared for him ever since he was a kitten. The adoration he got as the band's mascot and lead guitarist from their fans wasn't half-bad either
