Hano Sadao

Debtor Aniki

Onmyōji Cadet Hano Sadao (a.k.a. 羽野 完夫)

Summary

A young onmyōji born in a small village somewhere in Echizen Province. He later went on to join the temple at the Pools of Perfection and excelled there for a time, but was driven out due to gambling debts he had accrued in the Imperial Capital. Although an otherwise calm and rational young man, Hano Sadao loses all sense of scope and logic when presented with a bet he thinks he has any chance of winning. Until now, he's been kept out of any serious trouble by his "younger brother," Hano Kansei, but his debts are beginning to catch up with him, driving Sadao to seek a position in the wealthy and powerful Hashinara Clan.   In a curious twist of fate, Hano Sadao was born with a fully-formed sheele already bonded to him. Because the two were birthed at the same time and looked so similar, their rural community believed them to be a cursed pair of twins. Cursed because they could not be separated for any length of time without the smaller, weaker of the two falling deathly ill. Only when Sadao arrived at the Pools of Perfection was little Kansei's true nature revealed.   Both were sixteen years old at the time, and that had been long enough for them to develop separate personalities and a powerful bond as brothers. As a result, Kansei does not behave like an average sheele, but shows much more personality and individuality. Indeed, Sadao considers himself lucky to have such a capable and intelligent little brother around to watch out for him.
