Summary
A prominent scholar from the Imperial Archives at the Imperial Court who was sent to study alongside Yamana Toyokuni at the Grand Yamana Observatory. Though she is technically Toyokuni's assistant, Aoki Michiko resents being called such, believing that her station is high enough to warrant equal academic standing with the Daimyō. She is a master of several disciplines, and usually free with her knowledge, which she gathers both as a pastime and a profession. Her personality can, however, sometimes be quite acerbic, and she is highly suspicious of those who seem eager to trade something for nothing. As such, she will always expect something in return for her teachings, even if that something is as nebulous as a favor.
