Turns

Turns are manipulators of sight and energy to bring on whatever appearance they want. It ranges from the ability to change skin or hair color, to becoming a different person, to becoming other creatures unlike the user. This can be done to the user, or to others and the space around them. This power is one that many find simple to grasp on the road to improvement in their abilities. This ability is not too energy costly, however it does require (at the very least) higher than average Regeneration in order to maintain the ability properly. The most common of the six Demon Powers, it was calculated that ~97% of the Great Human population is capable of at least one B rank skill of this power.

  The key terms here are "appearance," which implies purely that and no change in matter or form, and then "form," which is a complete change of matter and biology and not a mere illusion.   This is the most up-to-date ranking system for Turns using the Corvil Ranking System for powers and potential. An extremely common power to have as well as one that is easy to master, it faces little to no demand in any organizations. It serves very little combat purpose and does not fare well against Sensors, however those who reach the top ranks of using this ability can turn the tide of any battle. The letters following the number corresponds to what sort of team rank a user of that ability could be put in while in Bull's Army.  
  1. <C. Illusion (Minor): The user is able to change the appearance of small areas or parts of their body, generally anything in direct contact with their skin. They can change their hair color, skin color, eye color, and various other things, but cannot change the size of anything or create new parts on themselves. This cannot be kept up for too long, and at first these appearance changes may only last for a few seconds at most.
  2. C. Illusion (Major): The user can change the appearance of nearly all parts of their body, if not everything. They can take on the appearance of a completely different individual with the same general shape as them, but once again cannot change the size of any parts. This can be maintained for much longer than the Minor rank.
  3. B. Substitution (Minor): The user is able to substitute their energy pool to aid in changing their appearance. This may mean making hair longer, making the entire body slightly taller or more muscular, and just generally changing the shapes and sizes of various parts.
  4. B. Substitution (Major): The user is able to perfectly substitute their energy in case of new or changed body parts. These individuals are required to have extraordinary Regeneration of energy and they are capable of maintaining this ability for extended periods of time compared to the Minor counterpart.
  5. B/A. Spacial Turn (Minor): The user can make themselves appear invisible. These users are capable of hiding their body mass but not their energy. This is not the same as Transports being able to move from place to place, but instead their bodies are still in the general area as their energy, meaning that they are still easily tracked by Sensors.
  6. A. Imaginary: The user is able to transform into a being unlike anything they know of. Before, the power was limited by what the user has experienced and what they know in their heads to exist and accurately recreate on their person. This level now includes the creation of body parts not found on their body, or completely changing their appearance to a completely different creature of similar or slightly greater mass. Mainly a good tell is a Great Human being able to change their appearance into a random assemblage of parts that had previously been unseen.
  7. A. Transformation (Minor): The user can completely transform into any creature, larger or smaller than their original form, and maintain that new form for a prolonged period of time. This is not a mere appearance change in which seemingly invisible body parts are still there, but this is a complete change of state that changes the biology of the creature using this power. This level of Turning can lead to users being able to fool even veteran Sensors.
  8. S. Transformation (Major): The user is able to perfectly change their form to any other living creature of nearly any size. Their proficiency with the ability makes them difficult for Sensors to track when Turns are paired with their own masking abilities.
  9. U. Spacial Turn (Major): The user appears to manipulate the space around them in order to give the effect they desire. A combination of changing appearance and form, on top of manipulating space around the user in a similar fashion.
 

The Risks

 
  • Changing appearance does not change their energy in the lower ranks, simply the appearance in which it is created from within one's body. Coupling this ability with a good Sensor and that makes a nearly undetectable individual. Unfortunately, only the A- U tiers of this ability are useful in combat scenarios, and there are not many who specialize in it due to its lack of advantages.
  • Many Turns are able to manipulate their body mass into and from energy, however this does not Heal individuals. It postpones the effects of whatever injury the user has received by essentially hiding the injured body tissue as energy, however once the effects of the power wear off, the user is back to the state they were in before, injuries and all. It is highly advised to seek medical attention instead of postponing the effects until one is not able to function properly anymore.
  • Any non-organic parts attached to the user while Turning are not Turned along with the user. Anyone with a prosthetic leg will promptly find that leg no longer attached to where it once was, resulting in whatever injury may come from suddenly expelling the synthetic nerves and bone attachments from their body. This also applies to clothes, meaning that any squad willing to utilize this power for infiltrating will have to risk having no supplies with them. This leaves anyone with implants, prosthetic limbs, or valuable resources with little to no potential to learn anything above rank C of the ability, or any good use of it.
  If the individual is careful about their energy usage, there are no harmful long term effects of this ability. It is one of the safest to use as even at its limit it will not tire the user to the same degree as Healing.  

The Origin

  This power comes from the natural ability of transformation that belonged to Demons alone before it transferred to Humans.   The S tier of this ability has been noted in only a single Demon. It is believed that this individual is responsible for Humanity having any chance to achieve the S rank at all.
