Demon

Creatures from another world, unlike anything found naturally in this world.   The word "Demon" was originally a derogatory term used to describe strange and sometimes sentient creatures that the Humans found, but couldn't quite understand. Not realizing the Humans felt so negatively toward them, the Demons adopted the word for themselves and stuck with it. Over the years, as Humans learned more about these creatures, the term drifted from its original negative connotation. Demons are a sort of Energy , which has condensed enough to create its own entity.   There are three main categories that any particular Demon can fall into:
  • A Pure Demon is one who was not born or created in this world. They come from another land, one that can even be called its own dimension. While they have no single form, the sure way to recognize a Pure Demon is by their pitch black sclera of their eyes, if they have any. In most cases, they have stronger energy radiating from them than other Demons, and these beings can be quite massive in size. There are few of these creatures, and many have existed for longer than Tsilanda has.
  • A Mixed Demon is one born of a Demon and Human, but showing mostly Demon characteristics. Mixed Demons are considered to be synonymous to Great Humans, however Great Humans are not necessarily directly descendant from any Demon. Both names are used interchangeably based off the appearance of the individual; if they look Human they are labelled as Great Humans and if they look Demon then they are labelled as Mixed Demons.
  • A False Demon is a new sort of Demon. Named recently, these are previously Human individuals who were turned into Demons through unnatural or forced methods. These cannot be naturally found or created. There is only one surviving case of this type of creature.
Each of these groups has two major subcatetgories within them, mainly the Sentient and the Insentient. Within the Sentient subcategory, there are also Families, which are groups of Demons who decide to unite as a family or just a group in which they share similar or identical appearances out of love, respect, or whatever other reason.   Demons are mostly sexless, gender-less, and often times mindless beings who may choose to change that once they come into contact with Humans and other creatures, and may choose to adopt some of their traits for themselves.

Basic Information

Anatomy

These creatures can have any possible body as long as their energy mass allows for it. They can look similar to creatures in this world, or they can look like something that defies all laws of nature. While they have no set form, they can choose to create one for themselves. Both Pure and Mixed Demons can have any appearance they wish, while False Demons seem to keep the original form of their Human selves.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Demons used to live all throughout Ishalla and the Demon Forest. Now, they are isolated within the Demon Forest and not allowed in Ishalla under any circumstances.

Soo... like elementals from the forgotten realms, only smarter. Cool! Is a demon's size indicative of their power level? Can a pure demon cast reality-altering spells because it's so big?

Pretty much! And their powers vary, but yes it is a general rule of thumb that larger = stronger, in physical might as well as abilities, purely because a Demon with weaker powers simply couldn't have killed so much to get such a size in the first place. Reality-altering powers do exist, although it wouldn't be because they are too big, but just because they were "born" with those powers.

Oh, I didn't really catch that a demon gets bigger from killing things...

Yeah, I've got some updating to do!
