Saranyu

Saranyu is the leader of the Merchants Guild of Narland, and thus the effective leader of the Guilds of Narland.
Saranyu is shrewd, ambitious and innovative. He favours a free market economy, with no restrictions on pricing, quotas or wages. His hands off approach to management of the Merchants guild has allowed a number of more dubious (some might say exploitative) business practices to become commonplace, something which can cause conflicts in his is relationship with his predecessor Sunya (now the Mayor). His leadership has nonetheless proved successful so far, in particular for the city of Sturmin itself, which has benefitted from significant investments in development of the docks and warehousing districts, allowing much more efficient transit of goods through the city.
