Mayor of Sturmin

The Mayor of Sturmin is the Head of State of Narland. Originally intended to be a purely ceremonial role to lead celebrations at national holidays, its responsibilities have grown over the years to include conflict resolution within the council and international relationships with political powers across the Flussland. The incumbent Mayor is Sunya, who has held the position for 7 years of his 10 year term.

Requirements

The Mayor will typically have previously held a position on the council as a guild leader. The would also be expected to have some experience of international relations, and be in good standing with all guilds.

Appointment

The Mayor is elected by the guild council. Candidates are whittled down through multiple rounds of voting. In principle anyone should be able to become the Mayor, and a wide range of individuals are put forward for it, but in practice the successful candidate has so far always been a member of the Merchants Guild.
