Grove of Dancing Minds
The headquarters for the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Forest
Purpose / Function
This grove serves as the headquarters for the armed forces, a training centre for officers, and is the site for most military ceremonies. It was created in order to provide a place away from the distractions of the high council so that the senior leadership of the military can work undisturbed.
It was Helin Silma who ordered the creation of the grove after the Greenskin Invasion. Helin had been impressed by the training given to officers in the Empire of Trem and wanted to replicate that in her own forces (which had mostly relied on learning in combat). Prior to this the military leadership had typically operated out of the council tree or the family home of the most senior officer present. This frequently led to distractions which Helin hoped to avoid with this new structure.
Architecture
Like with many other buildings in Calen Tal tel’Taure the grove was not built but grown. The grove consists of twelve large trees that have been magically shaped to contain rooms for different purposes. The branches provide walkways between the trees, and also shelter the central area which is used for ceremonies.
There are only two ground level entrances to the trees, with a winding path through rooms and along branches required to reach the more sensitive rooms used for planning campaigns or discussing intelligence. Helin and taken note of how other lands structured their buildings to ensure security and was directly involved in designing the structure of the grove.
The central area includes grown furniture for events such as the Eternal Flower Ceremony and the sides of the trees facing the central area have been shaped to improve the accoustics.
The training facilities for officers are split into lecture rooms and battle rooms. Because of the structure of the kingdom's forces there are rarely more than 3 or 4 officers in training at any one time so most of these rooms are quire small. Training in weapons is done outside so there is little need for much more than a table or chairs in most training rooms.
