Jaded Weald

A lush wooded location above the cliffs to the west of Erudition. Named for the unique growths observed, by which some of the vegetation has a material structure similar to that of green jade, instead of cellulose fibers. Located on top of Maximilian’s Earthen Cache , the connection between the meteor's affect on the minerals underground and their subsequent effect on the forest above has long since been known. The dispersal and concentration of these jade growths is quite random, though there are plots that have been framed and claimed by several mining or businesses, including the infamous jeweler The Jaded Lover, ancient and renowned mineral processors, Axal Minimis , and employee owned mining company, Hauers and Hurriers . While harvesting from these owned regions is illegal, the harvesting of "wild" jade is permitted by anyone who finds it      
One would think that due to the vast availability of jade, the market would be saturated, and demand low. However, due to the density and brittleness of the stone, is quite difficult to successfully harvest without special tools and training, causing pieces, especially those of natural conformation and large size, very valuable. Those pieces that are highly processes and refined are quite common, and appear in much of the architectural designs, and fashion accessories of the buildings and residents of Erudition.
