Greenbough

A quiet, verdant town on the eastern perch of the Earthfall Vale. A colony established by Erudition centuries ago, with the chief responsibility of creating a thriving agricultural community, not only for the purposes of providing food, but alchemical and medicinal plants, fungi, and even some animal species. Those not suited to urban or arcane life, or those with a love or aptitude for nature, horticulture, animal rearing, usually find themselves living a quiet and sheltered life, nestled amongst its greenery.   The growing fields and pastures are located both up on the cliff and below in the valley, with a veritable green waterfall of hanging gardens cascading down the cliff. Switchbacks are built into the cliffside, housing planter boxes, and permitting access to care for the hanging gardens. A system of caves at the bottom of the cliffs were dug out and have been expanded over the years to permit the growing of fungi and other low light species. The diverse environments of the tropical jungle, and the sub tropical valley trough, make growing most any species of plant possible.   Both arcane science and divine magics are commonly used as adjuncts to the growing and raising of plants and animals, certainly those related to earth, water, sun, weather and animal control. Certainly Loess, The Rooted and Wise is praised highly, and to a lesser extent, Marloch, The Ebb and Flow. A high druid or cleric to direct the divine, along with a game warden to protect the physical are appointed to govern the settlement. Threats are run of the mill from both in and outside the community, tend to be non-violent, but it is not unheard of for an organized group to take up illegal activities of growing and distributing controlled or banned substances, which unfortunately can lead to bloodshed.     Architecture: Wood, earth, natural stone. Some homes and buildings are built into natural structures when possible.   Commerce: Agricultural products, livestock, lumber, alchemical and medicinal components   Population: Elf, Human, Halfling, Gnome,   Society: High Druid or Cleric and Game Warden   Miscellany:   Greenbough, Post Fall: An new, unknown blight has been affecting many of the plants and crops. In most cases, the blight does not actually kill the plants, but twists and changes them into something different, making them unusable in the traditional manners, be it alchemical or sustenance.
