Vaskull
Vaskull, the son of Abrastis and Dieterra, was a noble and proud warrior during the Outworld War. He slew many lesser gods in battle, and before long, when he came to war, a ripple of fear came across the opposing armies. He was a superb general, clever and courageous, and in peacetime he was charming and charismatic. Yet once the Outworld War as over, he found a terrible ennui, a boredom, stealing across him. He began playing his followers amongst themselves, pitting them against the worst fears he could imagine, and taking enjoyment in their reactions.
This was his right and his role, and Abrastis and Dieterra, though concerned by his shift in attitude, had no right to interfere. The domain of fear was his to govern has he saw fit. It was not, however, until the rebellion of Nefferlasta that he saw a real opportunity to become more powerful than his father and mother. Learning the lesson from his Aunt, he plotted for centuries, and waited for the right moment. This moment became clear, when Abrastis was locked away, and Dieterra left as sole regent.
Using his powers, he began to cloud her mind with fears, deeper than any he had summoned before. Angered, and sorrowful, he pushed Dieterra, it is said, to leave the Golden Throne, but had not counted on the Moon Court to welcome her. But she was now gone from the Throne, and so he made his move. Alongside some of the gods who had made peace with the Titans (Sybinyll, Aesa, and others that are lost to history), he led a coup seeking to seize his father’s throne and usher in a terrifying reign of fear over the world.
Farasta however, was prepared, and although the battle caused many deaths, amongst the god’s servants, Vaskull was defeated, and sent as an exile from the Throne. There, he sought refuge with Nefferlasta, who welcomed him to her court as an ally – but before long he found himself hating being a guest, and forged his own path.
When Dieterra and Hevren gave birth to Shadowent, Vaskull saw an opportunity to grow his power. Her darkness was clear from the outset, but he whispered seduction and promises to her, the likes of which her parents could not offer. And so, the daughter that should have heralded a hopeful start of a new world of Titan and God unity, because a subject of shame, as Shadowent eventually left the Golden Throne, to work alongside Vaskull.
The story of Vaskull’s plot, to take vengeance upon the world and the gods by unleashing alien gods from the void, is told elsewhere. But when he stepped into the void, betrayed by his love – and a true love at that – his beauty was stripped away, and the icy cold of the void gave him his new domain, alongside fear – winter.
