Triodar

Triodar is the three-person God of Nature, and the Forest. Once, they were three separate gods, Ursus the Bear God; Eveline the Sprite Queen, and Cawdo, the Raven Prince. All three fought against the encroachment of the darkness and the Blight, but were almost utterly spent. It was in one great battle when Greenfingered Kimil (the Goddess of Agriculture) died against the Blight (the father of all three), and the three Gods of Nature were close to death, that they decided to merge. They sacrificed their individual sparks of life to form the single God, Triodar. Absorbing the little remaining spark of Kimil, they became guardians of the forest, nature and the Balance.   Their clerics can sometimes worship them as individuals, or as druids they can worship nature itself, but increasingly both druids and clerics are starting to pray to Triodar.   Aspects of Triodar:     Ursus the Bear God:   Father Ursus: Kindly, sleepy, defensive of the forest but gentle. He is strong, constant and unmoveable in the defence of Nature, but holds grudges for millennia. He aids mortals in their journeys, but can be ponderous in his conversations, and is often slow to respond to calls for aid. But when he comes, he is a kind and loyal aspect that will stay until the bitter end.   Claw the Unbidden He is the aspect feared in the dark of night, the oncoming nightmare, the killer bear of legend. He comes unbidden, unforeseen and unwanted, save in the most dire of circumstances. He will kill in a red fury, leaving almost none alive, and will hunt until he cannot move for the dead he has gorged upon. He is what mortals fear of the deep forests, and druids call on him when there is no other choice.   Or because they embrace their darkest urges.   Eveline, the Sprite Queen   Moonlit Queen   The gentle lapping of water heralds her arrival, and the singing of the nightingale. She is the small child finding delight in every aspect of nature, wandering the farmland and the deep forests with equal joy. Along her steps come the gentle motes of moonlight, and she brings peaceful sleep to those in her realm. When she arrives she can bring calm to the wildest beasts, and is said to be the only aspect that can calm Claw the Unbidden from his rages.   The Huntress   She who can see the souls of men, and knows their darkest plans for nature. She is calculation where Claw is madness; she is precision where he is brutality. She is the sweeping shrike from the sky, where Claw is the terrible forest fire. She comes to druids when they need to hunt an enemy skilled in deception, and has no mercy in her at all. Those who are hunted by her, or her followers, should pray for swift escape, or spend their last moments in agony, devoured by her wild pack.   Cawdo, the Raven Prince   Picking He was never meant to be, but the appetite for the dead overwhelmed him and he broke from his chains of shadow and blood. Since then, he has lived alone, of all the aspects. He gathers in the dead of night, and lives off the leavings of his cousin aspects. He knows the hour of all nature’s death, and stands ready to devour it. He knows the Blight better than any aspect of Triodar, and will stir himself to answer prayers to those who would oppose it. For even the dead ravens of shadow cannot eat the flesh of the Blight…   Smoke: Smoke died in a forest fire, and woke formless save for the whispers of smoke about his form. Weakest of Triodar’s aspects, he is nonetheless knowledgeable. He has not been able to eat in almost three thousand years, and his echoes and mimicry always have a pitiful edge to them. However, he is committed to his duty, perhaps more than any aspect save Father Ursus. He knows that there is time for death in every cycle of nature, but he also knows the true pain of a goodbye, and so is often the spirit that druids turn to at the very end of their path, for the comfort that only the Raven of Smoke can bring.
