Faith of Triodar

There is no overarching faith of Triodar, rather individual scatterings of temples and druid circles across the world. Most of the time, given the prevalence of evil and the Blight in the world, their clerics tend towards good, but in places where civilisation encroaches too greatly, there have been clerics of Triodar that act “as the lightning clears the dead wood”.   There are some specific centres of worship for Triodar:   Arden Forest: This is where the great battle took place that forced Triodar to consolidate, and as such has become a place of sacred importance to the faith. Most of their clergy travel to Arden forest at least once in their life, to gaze upon the ancient trees and receive their messages from the green whispers. Many make it their home, doing their best to maintain the forest against the Blight and the threats of progress – but even their greatest efforts have been for naught, as Arden shrinks more every year.   Raubensholt: This is a sacred temple to Triodar on the edges of Arden. It focuses on the raven-worship of the faith, and is the home of Nikvah, who has been a druid of Triodar for many centuries.   The Green Cities: Although long since conquered by Kharasaki, the Green Cities in the great desert are sacred dwellings for clerics of Triodar, within groves old when the human race was young. Here, druids and clerics tend to be more militant.   The Rootmarch: Somewhere within Blighthold, there is a small enchanted realm called the Rootmarch, which has for centuries resisted invasion and corruption. Few can travel there through the Blight, but those who have speak of powerful druids that live in the presence of a powerful relic, but who have been separated from the world for so long they care little for it.   Wanderers: There is a long tradition within the faith of Triodar of recognising each other as sisters, brothers, or (for those who clash more often) ‘cousins’. Whilst individual sects will follow rules and have High Priests, most of the time the faith is left to individuals, listening to the green whispers of the trees and through the winds of nature for guidance from Triodar themselves.

Tenets of Faith

Doctrine of Triodar:
  • Protect the balance in all things, do good where you can do good, guard nature where you can guard nature;
  • The forest is too weak for mercy to be given to foes;
  • Farm or forest, all is worthy, but the forest must not give way forever;
  • The wolf enjoys the hunt, but does not hunt unless it is needed;
  • Mortals can speak for themselves, animals oft need someone to speak for them;
  • The secret paths must stay secret, save in the gravest of moments;
  • Cities hide their own Blight, but have their place in the Balance, do with them what you will.

Priesthood

Ranks within the faith:   There are no strict ranks within the faith, save within individual circles.   Holy symbol / robes:
  • Intertwined circles; individual aspects; wooden circle; flowers of black, white and brown; staff with three woods, etc.
  • No other rules, save that there is a tendency to dress closer to nature, with practical clothing or in warmer climates, no clothing (amongst nature).
Approaches to internal conflict:   Just as beast clashes with beast, at times different aspects of Triodar will oppose each other – this, they believe, makes Nature stronger. However, all will put aside argument and battle to fight the Blight or the Calculix.
