Relations

The city-state of Borlaus is rumored to exist thanks to the merfolk, and a deep link exist between the two city state who'll protect and help each others.

Economy

Exchange

The economy of this city-state uses a unique currency system. While the value of these coins is primarily recognized within the city, they can be exchanged for standard gold coins at banks or exchange houses. The local coins correspond to standard coin values as follows:
  • 1 mermaids - 1 platinum coin
  • 1 glints - 1 gold coin
  • 1 nibs - 1 silver coin
  • 1 pence - 1 copper coin
Tidewind Refuge has adopted the same money as Boralus to facilitate exchanges.

History

late 1136 AD through 1137 AD The settlement, once a merfolk garrison, was originally established as a bastion of martial training for young merfolk. When Tromokratis was freed, the southern ocean erupted with a necrotic storm that raged for weeks. Enacting his vengeance, the titan began by laying waste to the Gulf of Mermaids, annihilating the merfolk who fled eastward in desperation, seeking refuge with their sea elf and triton kin. As the coastal regions faced turmoil and uncertainty, a wave of merfolk refugees sought shelter in the safety of the garrison. Their numbers swelled, and the garrison gradually transformed into an independant village and merfolk clan.
