Dragonborn

Dragonborn, or Dragon kin as they are called by the peoples of the Saroon Desert have always had a connection to dragons, as well as a deep connection to the elements they associate with. There are hundreds of theories as to the origin of these people, however most are wrapped up in the origins of dragons. Whether they where made by gods, evolution, or dragons, They most often associate their births with the Hexmatic Gods, or Relac, The Law Bringer.

The Dragonborn's native lands are Kare'Gora, a craggy, hot, and jungle covered land filled once with some of the most deadly creatures on all of Tor. Protected for only a short period of time by their gods, Dragonborn in the past had to fight for their survival, with the fruits of their labor evident to this day. However the dragonborn of chromatic and metallic decent have never really seen eye to eye. Chromatics, following the flow of the harsh life in the southern Sub-Continent of Gora remain to this day in tight knit clans, that are seen as uncivilized by many other peoples. Where as metallic's formed in more feudalistic ways in the northern Sub-continent of Kare, creating individual lord ships that eventually where absorbed into an empire known as The Gilded Crown ruled by King Vesser Mevalor Kas III in current day (2563 ALG). This lack of unification from the chromatic dragonborn however became their downfall, as slowly over time the metallics invaded the lands of Gora and took it piece by piece till all of it was theirs. Naturally this victory over the chromatics invited the idea of the metallics superiority in every aspect over the chromatics, thinking of them as mere barbarians to be ordered and re-educated. The metallics have not had it easy however, they live in fairly similar climates, and have to deal with the near frequent threat of Saroonian invaders from the north threatening their very ways of life. Metallics often justify their actions with whats best for the empire, though this has not stopped the corrupt from damaging an already tense relation with these brothers and sisters.

Only time will tell what is to become of the various Dragonborn Peoples.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragonborn are a bipedal humanoid race with many draconic and reptilian features. Dragonborn can be separated into 2 main groups, Metallic, and chromatic, these groups over all look the same with some distinct features being different such as scale color, and tails. However to be even more precise each scale color comes with noticeable differences too, such as horn locations, breath weapons, and many other minor differences. Some features all dragonborn share are their distinct scales, 3 toes, 4 fingers (both toes and fingers have claws), and about half the dragonborn population have very flexible spines looking sort of like dreadlocks visually, however these spines are covered in the scales of the dragonborn in question, they are a type of sensory organ that act like extremely sensitive feelers. These feelers sense pressure, humidity, and temperature, they are also very sensitive to touch. This sensory organ is called a Vena.   Chromatic Dragonborn   Black Dragonborn: Black dragonborn have black scales with various dark colored highlights such as purple, crimson, dark blue, ect. They have no tale, and their horns include 2 main horns on ether side of the skull that start from the top of the skull curving down and out near their chin or neck, and many small black horns protruding from the back of the skull. From the top center of the skull begins a fin that reaches down to the lower back above the waist, this fin assists in swimming, however this has made armor for black dragonborn a little bit more complicated to account for this. On the lower neck rest gills that allow the black dragonborn to breath water, similar to the bronze dragonborn.   Blue Dragonborn: Blue Dragonborn have blue scales with yellow or purple highlights. They lack any tale, like almost all dragonborn, and have a large horn at the tip of their snout above their nose. This horn is separated into 2 segments, at the front the horn is a large continuous spike jutting out from the front of the snout, but the second section at the back is a much smaller horn or spike. These horns are attached to each other, and if the back horn is missing on a blue dragonborn then it is considered a birth defect. along the top and back of the head are two rows of spiked horns that end near the neck. In the center of these rows rest a row spines or frills that get shorter as they go down the back of the dragonborn till they cant be seen at the center of their back. Their ears are one of the only types visible on a dragonborn, these ears are frilled with multiple tips all along the ear, however these tips and frills are not ridged and flex like the skin of the dragonborn, these ears are also covered in scales and are blue and are long, reaching the back of the back of the skull easily.   Green Dragonborn: Green Dragonborn have green scales with lighter greens and yellows as highlights. They have no tale like most dragonborn, and are also mush taller and skinnier than other types of dragonborn, reaching about seven feet tall on average but weighing about the same as most around 250 pounds. notible features include the lack of horns anywhere on the body and the fin running from the head to the base of the back near the pelvis, and the fins on the back of the legs running from the upper thigh to the lower thigh, and another running from the back of the upper calves to the lower calves.   Red Dragonborn: Red Dragonborn have red scales with orange, yellow, white, and black highlights. They have no tale, and are much more muscular than other dragonborn, as a byproduct this makes them weigh significantly more than most, around 270 to 280 pounds is average for red dragonborn. They have several defining features such as their long sleek horns on ether side of the back of the skull, both horns protrude in the back and point that way too. Another feature is the steep incline at the end of the snout, this is part of the bone structure of the creature, and is not a horn in any way. Around the neck is a frill that swings open to during the use of their breath weapon, and it is also used as a way of intimidating creatures.   White Dragonborn: White Dragonborn have white scales with blue, yellow, pink, red, and grey highlights. They have no tale like most dragonborn and are shorter than average dradonborn, about 5'6" to 5'10". White dragonborn have scale like plates at the top of their head that frill up during breath weapon usage, and also when they are agitated. Their frame is fairly sleek allowing for winds to not catch them as well, as a side affect of this white dragonborn weigh less than average, around 220 pounds. Their claws are serrated allowing them to climb more easily on ice and soft rock.   Metallic Dragonborn   Brass Dragonborn: Brass Dragonborn have reflective brass colored scales with rusty red, cyan, teal, orange and gold highlights. They have no tale and are much smaller than most dragonborn, reaching around 5'2" to 5'7". Brass dragons have horn like protrusions on ether side of their head both curving out into half circles. At the center of the back of the skull starts a spined webbing that reaches down to the center of the back and splits into two separate webbings to go down the back of both legs. Their legs are sleek and powerful, this makes them excellent runners, often times brass dragonborn are couriers due to this innate speed.   Bronze Dragonborn: Bronze Dragonborn have reflective bronze colored scales with green, white, teal, and cyan highlights. They have no tale and have bony scale covered protrusions from ether side of the head similar to the brass dragonborn, however these protrusions have 4 horns coming from both protrusions. The bottom horns angle up and are short, the next one back can angle in any direction, the 3rd horn up angles up and are short as well, the top and 4th horn is long, curves up, and curves toward the opposite side of the head. Bronze dragonborn also have a long fin with strong webbing that reaches down to the waist, they also have webbing in between their fingers and toes. This makes them excellent swimmers, and to top it all off they have gills behind the protrusions on their heads allowing them to breath water if they wish.   Copper Dragonborn: Copper Dragonborn have reflective copper colored scales with blue, teal, white, and orange highlights. They have no tale and have scale covered horns protruding from the jaw, cheek bone, and upper skull. these horns all point out and behind the skull, however they all very in size and shape. The lower horns coming from the jaw are small but start out as one plate, as they get further from the skull they separate into many small horns. the cheek horns, or center horns are sleek and angle out then curve around the back of the skull. The upper and main horns are large horns that curve behind the skull with a minor curve at the tip of the horns, if you where to look head on at the horns they would look like a V or a U.   Gold Dragonborn: Gold Dragonborn have

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragonborn hatch from eggs laid by the mother, once laid, the eggs take about 7 months to hatch. Once hatched the baby learns to walk within the first week and grows very quickly. By age 3 the dragonborn is similar to a age 10 human. From age 3 to age 15 the child is taken under the wing by the parent of the same sex, and is taught how best to conduct itself for the clan and in society. Once the child reaches age 15 it is considered an adult.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Dragonborn are omnivorous, however primarily consume meat. Fruit, vegetables, and fungus are mostly eaten to supplement their diets for missing vitamins and minerals. Their preferred meats very based on their clan, however this is not bound to the scale color in any way.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dragonborn sensory organs include their eyes, scaled skin, nose, tongue, ears, and vena (also known as head spines)   The Vena are a group of spines or tendrils protruding from the back of the head that are very sensitive to their surroundings. They can feel pressure changes, temperature changes, and are so sensitive to the touch they can also pick up small vibrations in the air. Not all dragonborn have these Vena.
