Ro'aqlen Ikensa IV Character in Tiyu Amara | World Anvil

Ro'aqlen Ikensa IV

Ro'aqlen Ikensa IV Ro Uyngu'anezh Vyutton

Truly, Ikensa is a monarch of letters. Ishlu wrote on occasion, but it seems hardly a week goes by that another missive arrives from Zhrayqarnyu bearing Ikensa's flowing script. I do wonder if maybe they would be better served by just visiting for once and solving all the world's problems over wine.

Ro'aqlen Ikensa IV is the current ruler of the Divine Kingdom of Zhrayqarnyu. In that role, they act as the mortal representative of the Divinity of Wisdom, authorised to enact laws in their stead. They are the only person in the kingdom allowed to channel the deity, which they have done on a handful of occasions.

History

The future Ikensa IV was born Ro Uyngu'anezh Vyutton, the third of four children born to then Prince Annedni and their partner. While ordinarily a child in a such a position would be unlikely to inherit the throne of the theocratic Zhrayqarnyu, it was noted at a young age that Vyutton had a particularly strong link to the divine due to their supposed ability to see the spirits of long-dead Ro'aqlens.   This trait saw Vyutton become a favourite among Annedni's children to succeed them in the distant future, and they were given extensive training in religion and politics in preparation for this role. While excelling in their studies, Vyutton would only ever accompany their parent on a diplomatic endeavour once - when Zhrayqarnyu, Ijwavya and Shixiiwul came together in the Ijwavyamii capital of Ithuulqam to form the North West Pact in 21 Contact. While only a minor part of the Zhrayqarnyu delegation, Vyutton apparently caused such a fuss that they had to be removed from the meeting hall before the politics began in earnest.   Despite this incident, Annedni and their father Ishlu X remained committed to Vyutton's potential for the role of Ro'aqlen, albeit perhaps in a less public-facing capacity. During their teens, Vyutton would become an extensive writer of letters, corresponding with a great many people across Thurásin about all manner of subjects, and would only be present at a handful of controlled religious and royal events, such as at the ascension of their parent as Ro'aqlen Ishlu XI.   They were notably absent from the diplomatic meetings following the Mage War of 12 Return, though had a member of the Zhrayqarnyu delegation present a brief statement on their behalf in support of Ishlu XI's stance on the conflict and its resolution.   Vyutton became Ro'aqlen on the 8th of Mercy in 20 Return following the death of their parent, and chose the regnal name Ikensa. Now being the head of state in Zhrayqarnyu, Ikensa continued to be rather secluded, maintaining their vast correspondance network as their primary method of communication with foreign dignitaries. This has led to few people having met the monarch in person, with those few largely being religious and political officials within Zhrayqarnyu.

Public Perception

Though being a reclusive monarch has a historical risk attached, Ikensa's role as a religious figurehead has helped them in avoiding the consequences for their solitude. In fact, many Zhrayqarnyum find this to be an admirable trait, particularly when paired with their extensive correspondences both at home and far abroad.   This is not to say Ikensa is universally liked. As a representative (and occasional channeler) of the Divinity of Wisdom, the fact they so rarely embody Wisdom's sub-domain of Experience has been a source of frustration among some religious figures in the kingdom. Their refusal to public announce who among the royal family is to be their heir is also worrying, as it bucks a precedent going back centuries, and potentially increases the risk that people from many branches might fight over the Divine Throne when they die.

Oh, a 'fuss', is that what they call it? The poor child was all but having a fit! Screaming and wailing, thrashing about at something. Had to be removed by one of their royal guards, and even then the back of the hall could still hear them sobbing. Put rather a damper on the mood of what was meant to be a quite triumphant feat of political negotiation, I think.
