The Kingdom of Kauvet

In the rolling valleys of Kauvet, magic permeates the very core of the kingdom, isolating all that live on the peninsula from the rest of the world, for better or for worse. The natural magical barriers of the kingdom hold secrets far older than the kingdom itself. The towering mountains and freezing tundra to the north hold mysteries few, if any, have ever come to unravel; the waters that surround the kingdom threaten to topple all those who try to sail away from Kauvet; and in The Redwillow Forest along the eastern coast, secrets and magic abound, threatening the fragile lives of those who live at its border. The common people of Kauvet live peaceful lives, accepting the isolation as fact and never attempting to venture into any of the various regions that block outward expansion; adventurers of all sorts have braved the treacherous terrain of Kauvet’s borders and few have ever returned to tell their tales. Those who have are immortalized in the infamous library known as the Tiresian Archives.   Map: The Kingdom of Kauvet (Map by Will/LordofRavens in the server)

The Redwillow Forest

The Redwillow Forest is infamous for it's abundance of dangerous creatures, rampant magic, and the ghost stories that surround it. Those who live in the Valley often disregard the ghost stories and threats of danger, but those who live along the border of the forest know the truths of stories all too well. Creatures or failed experiments have been known to be released into the woods by evil experimenters.   Adventurers in the party of Arc 1: Whispers of Redwillow encountered many strange things while walking the path, including whispering and gossiping trees, mummified giants playing chess, an altered Gibbering Mouther, and even a human that they fought with named Verran.

The Tundra

The Tundra lies at the north of the Valley and under the Northern Mountain Range. It is incredibly cold, uncharacteristic of the rest of the sunny Peninsula, and a stark change from the Valley. It also has an incredibly dangerous aspect: it sucks all that enters its borders to the center, pulling and stripping magic away to feed its existence. It has never been fully crossed, adventurers tending to head back south or circumvent it through the more hospitable Redwillow Forest along the western coast. There are also teleportation circles set up by Oma Nyx and her gnomish expedition party around the edges of the Tundra to make it easier to cross, though this occurs in 230 AL.

The Northern Mountain Range

The Northern Mountains are vast, cutting off the Kauvetian Peninsula from the rest of the mainland. The only access point aside from treking through the deadly tundra is in the west, and even then, adventurers would have to trek the Redwillow Forest.

The Ocean

The Ocean that surrounds the Kauvetian Peninsula is hospitable to trade along the port cities of Kauvet, but those who attempt to sail away from the peninsula, either to the mainland up north or into the unknown beyond out into the Ocean, are met with harsh, magically reinforced winds and waves that ultimately shipwreck and kill the sailors. The two majors oceans are The Eastern Ocean and The Western Ocean.

The Diarmagon Sea

The Diarmagon Sea encapsulates the islands to the southwest of Kauvet and borders the southwest of the peninsula. Rockshire is the biggest port city to the southwest, and many people from the islands and from other areas of the kingdom traverse the Diarmagon Sea to reach Rockshire.

The Valley

The Valley is the large swath of land that constitutes the majority of the kingdom. Most villages, towns, and cities lay within the rolling hills of the valley, including the capital city of Acropolis and the prosperous city of Glimmerbrook. Smaller villages along the edge of the Redwillow Forest are also part of the valley, including the villages of Fletcher and River's Flow.
