The Brook Family

The Brook family is one of the founders of the city of Glimmerbrook. A family of dwarves, they, along with The Glimmer Family, made Glimmerbrook into a bustling, rich town that gained their wealth from mining the bountiful underwater caves of the Olanot River. These two families had a tumultuous, mortal enemy relationship during the Age of Commerce.
By the end of the Age of Commerce, the Brooks and the Glimmers had lost control over the city to The Presch Family. The Olanot River cuts Glimmerbrook in half, and originally, the lower half of the city belonged to the Brooks and the upper half of the city belonged to the Glimmers. The banks of the river represented what caves were to be mined by which family.

Hope Glimmers

Established in Oops! All Villains, Hope Glimmers is an organization ran by Phibius Glimmer and Ferns Brook who are working to remove the Presch family's monopoly on the trade of Glimmerbrook and redistribute their wealth back to the people they stole it from.
Hope Glimmers is a moderately sized organization with little to no exposure to the wider world of Kauvet and is mostly just a direct nemesis to the Presch family. In Oops! All Villains, Phibius and Fern were arrested for the insurrection and were transported to Acropolis to serve their time. Additionally, they were being framed for the death of Kryast Presch, the heir to the Presch fortune, who died in 192 AL. This was an attempt by the Presch family to destabilize, maybe even disband, the group by having their leaders executed.
The creation of Hope Glimmers united the Brook and Glimmer families, as well as Cadence Glimmer and Stanza Brook (sisters of the leaders) ending the feud by combining the two families through marriage.

The Great Brush

The Great Brush was an artifact created by the Brook Family. It was originally simply a beautiful magic sword, however, it was stolen by The Presch Family during the Age of Commerce and they meddled with it, making it a magic paintbrush. Through a deal between The Van Vermeer Family and the Presch Family, it was given to the Van Vermeers with the prerequisite that each wielder of the brush must give a commission to the Presch Family upon sale of a painting made by the brush. It was a brush famously used by the adventurer Vincent Van Vermeer XXIX.
