'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises'

'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' is, as the name implies, a land almost completely enshrouded in night. The people of this land are adapted to the constant low lighting, whether it be some sort of darkvision or a bag full of flint and steel and torches. While it may seem difficult, if not impossible, for people to get adequate vitamin D or for plants to obtain proper amounts of sunlight, this is, for some unknown reason, not the case. This land, much like The Land of the Sun, does not have a sun and moon cycle, but, unlike The Land of the Sun, it does not suffer as many negative consequences. Unlike the arid, dry heat of The Land of the Sun, 'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' has a more moderate, temperature, albeit slightly chilly. This moderate temperature is likely due to the strong humidity that plagues the air.

'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' is the home of the Lepidoptera. It has, however, been destroyed as of the present day.

The Lepidoptera have returned, however, and they vow to rebuild their homeland.

Demographics

Most of the population in the past consisted of the Lepidoptera, but it now only consists of the Moth People branch of the Lepidoptera. Wealth is pretty evenly distributed among the people, and there is very little poverty.

Government

The government, while technichally a direct democracy, is seen as a theocracy, for it is their goddess, the goddess of dreams and the moon, who announces what the vote has resulted in.

Defences

'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' is surrounded by low wooden walls with a locked gate at the entrance. These walls are closer to a farm fence than anything, but they would still be quite cumbersome to get weapons across. In addition, a military is not actively trained, but it is instead kept in the background just in case. As such, all defenses in 'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' are very weak.

Industry & Trade

Despite its abundance of resources, 'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' still trades with the other nations. Its main exports are silk, flowers, and other plants. Imports from the Land of the Sun include glass, weapons, and certain drinks (Ex: coconut milk & catus water). Imports from the Land of the Dusk include cotton, lemons, and bread/bread ingredients.

Infrastructure

Buildings in 'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' are quite simple. More often than not, shops are attatched to homes. Fabric stores and grainmills are positioned near rivers, watermills pulling looms and spinning millstones, respectively. Despite the town's simplicity, a giant temple/castle for their goddess stands high in the center, providing the people with faith every day.

Districts

There is nowhere, barring personal homes, that an outsider could not go. Even the goddess's home is open to people from all over the continent.

Assets

'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' is a self-sustaining nation that would not greatly suffer if trade was cut off. It has sprawling, sustainable farms, mostly filled with nectar-dense flowers and fruit trees. The earth is abundant, and the soil is fertile.

Points of interest

The main attraction in 'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' is the palace of the goddess. There are tour guides who show visitors their culture through the many rooms and the architecture in the palace.

Tourism

Many people who tour 'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' only come to take a tour of the palace. Few stay in the inn overnight.

Architecture

The majority of homes in 'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' are made of unpainted wood. The fronts of houses are often decorated with carefully woven banners. The goddess's palace is extravagant, created with marble, limestone, and gold lining. Any smaller temples scattered around the outskirts of town are simple, wallless structues made out of marble.

Geography

'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' rests mainly on plains, many rivers running throughout the town. In the middle of the town, however, the goddess's palace is surrounded by high hills.

Climate

'The Land Where the Sun Never Rises' is chilly all throughout the year, but it is absolutely freezing in the Month of the Moon. Snow barely melts in this month. It snows occasionally in the Months of Dusk and Dawn, but never in the Month of the Sun.
