Sphinx

The Sphinxes are the first recorded beings of Tilandrial and, as such, are credited with creating all life on Tilandrial.   All sphinxes perished during the The Great War. Their remains were scattered across the eight continents, and a burial mound now sits upon each one.

Basic Information

Anatomy

All sphinxes have a lion's body with a human-like head, and all have a mane, regardless of gender. Some have wings, large bird like wings with iridecent feathers regardless of the color of their fur. Their fur can be any range of color; solid and muted.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Before the creation of other sentient species, sphinxes were widespread. When other sentient life started to spread across all of Tilandrial, the remaining sphinxes grouped together and traveled between the continents, never spending more than a decade in one place.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

All sphinxes have access to all eight elements of magic. Being the first creatures, they can utilize magics from every element.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Sphinxes speak a very ancient language, one unknown to all currently alive. It is thought amongst language scholars the dragons still retain the knowledge of how to speak it, but if they do, they refuse to let on.

Lifespan
Although they can die of sickness or severe wounds, Sphinxes are functionally immortal.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their fur is a solid muted color, and can be any range of colors, from brown to purple to grey. If they have wings, the feathers are large and white. When in direct light, the feathers display a beautiful rainbow of colors.
