The Oracanium

Other spaces may act as academies and tutorships with some kind of agenda... the Oracanium though... they are simply a repository of the knowledge of Thysia. The Etcher's may have been rebuilt in Anotheros but it is still Razdelin that people choose if they wish to learn more.
  • Nobles of Paradosia consider the newly founded, and very powerful, Oracanium in Razdelin.
When The Etcher's Guild was destroyed and it's libraries sunk to the bottom of the Razdelin ocean during the Cataclysm there was panic not just in Razdelin but across all of Thysia.   The Etcher's Guild was a library and centre for knowledge over 2,500 years in the making. It had wall upon wall devoted to family Soul Arms and a team of Etchers that were so efficient and focused that it was rumoured they could pluck the story of hundreds of Soul Arms as easily as one recites a song, or the alphabet.   They also boasted some of the greatest arcane minds in all of Thysia and were an outstanding academy for those who wished to become skilled with magic, specifically enchanting items and war magic... marking Etcher's as still some of the most proficient arcanists in all of Thysia.   When Razdelin was split, the northern leader Izim Faralda Pallinee made her first call being that of rebuilding the etchers from the ground up with a new focus. She envisioned this building holding the greatest minds in all of Thysia and acting as neutral political ground to share knowledge there.   So, the original designs for The Oracanium were born.   300 years later, and the Oracanium has become a sprawling town of knowledge, research and even a self-sufficient economy. All knowledge there is treated as sacred and so it is often shared, with many mages choosing to devote their life to being members of the town and delving into it's endless knowledge and secrets. It also acts as a school for those who wish to learn the arcane, with many hopefuls arriving at the Oracanium with a letter of recommendation in the hope they can receive formal training in magic from one of the powerful mentors there.   The Oracanium boasts many libraries and collections of knowledge on a variety of subjects... but, the only insisted on knowledge that must be collected for Izim Faralda, is that of divination and prophecy... for fear of another event like the Cataclysm 300 years ago.

Structure

The Oracaniumis led by the Orcanist's. Specifically Head Orcanist Jacqsel Darwel, these individuals act as the guards of the Oracanium as well as librarians, organisers and, for the ambitious Orcanist's, adventurers and retrievers of forgotten or lost lore.    The Orcanist's answer to Jacqsel Darwel on all matters.    Apart from that, the Oracanium mostly works as the equivalent of a large town-like library with a variety of people there throughout living their lives but it is mostly a free space for researchers and investigators as long as you can respect the rules of the Oracanium.

Culture

The culture of the Oracanium is strange as it was never expected that it would grow into the force it is now. With it's own citizens, soldiers and ideals.    It's culture is very much a reflection of Northern Razdelin with a focus on incorporating knowledge and learning into their lives. Notably, the towns most important festivals is mentor week in which those who wish to receive a mentor of magic or learning in the Oracanium have that week to make displays and 'shop around' for those looking for an apprentice.    The culture of the Orcanist's however, is rather strange as they often take a variety of forms. Whether it is librarians and organisers, researchers and scholars or even adventurers and detectives. Though they can often be identified by their black leather bound notebooks and their emerald green aesthetics.

Public Agenda

To collate and act as a centre for all knowledge across Thysia. Specifically focused around divination and prophecy at first but now building up to be a hub of knowledge and learning.

History

The Oracanium was originally built with the intention of acting as a library and repository of information but, with more and more travellers and settlers there/researchers. It soon had to build houses and cabins for those around them which turned into a chance for business... this birthed an economy and ever since the Oracanium has grown into a large town at this point.

Knowledge is to be shared.
