Brokshold
Brokshold is the territorial capital of the Dalbrok Clan of Colo. It is an ancient stone city located on the rocky coast of the Eastern Sea in the extreme southeast of the country. With a population of just over 18,000 souls, it is the largest settlement in the Dalbrok territory, and it is the seat of the Ryuri's authority.
Originally a walled coastal fortress town many centuries ago, Brokshold (known as "the Brokshold" by its residents) has grown to well beyond the limits of its original earthen embankments. The city's walls are today more a collection of keeps, tower houses, mansions and manors haphazardly joined by masonry walls of varying construction and quality. The Brokshold has a relatively small footprint, and because of this, there are many structures of significant height within the city. Of particular note is the Ryuri's primary residence, Brokshall, which is the tallest structure in the city (and in the entire territory) at well over 100 feet.
Government
Directly ruled by the Ryuri of the Dalbrok Clan and his appointed administrators, including a Mayor, a Marshall and Seneschal (or Steward).
Defences
The Brokshold is, technically, a walled city, but the walls are not adequate to constitute a legitimate defensive structure. While sections of the city walls are, in fact, perfectly defensible, these sections are not complete and do not completely enclose the city. Of the nearly three miles of city walls, less than one mile are actually functionally defensible, with the rest being decorative or poorly constructed barriers to traffic only. There are five city gates, and all are closed and locked at night, but are simply there to direct traffic and trade along desired paths and streets rather than to secure the city from attack.
The real defensive feature of the Brokshold is the more than 500 Sea Guards that patrol the streets and walls day and night. These well trained and well-armed soldiers are the Ryuri's personal Guard unit, and aside from the 20 or so that are actually protecting the Ryuri, the rest are tasked with keeping the peace within the city.
Industry & Trade
The Brokshold is one of the busiest coastal cities in all of eastern Colo. Tons of trade goods move in and out of the city each day on more than a hundred longships that range up and down the coast for hundreds of miles. By far the largest commodity moving through the city is fish. Harvested by the ton each day from the vast Eastern Sea, barrels of cod, herring, mackerel, halibut and haddock by the hundreds are loaded on narrow riverboats and barges and hauled into the interior, while salt pork, beef, venison and grain are floated down river and shipped out to sea.
Infrastructure
Most structures within the Brokshold are stone built and have slate or tile roofs. Roads are cobbled and well maintained. There are public wells located every few hundred paces along all the major streets for residents to draw from, and the city has a well-constructed sewer system more than 60' below the streets to take waste and rainwater away from the streets and down the bluffs to the sea.
