Jardersfolk

The Jardersfolk are the humans that inhabit the Shattered Islands of Jardersfell. Often called the Fellmen by the people of the mainland, Jardersfolk are a hearty, proud, and adventurous folk who rely on their strength, courage, and seafaring ability to survive in lands that can be quite harsh. Jardersfolk have a reputation on the mainland continents as fearsome raiders who only travel the Broken Sea in search of plunder and thrills and who care nothing for the lives of others, but this reputation doesn’t tell the whole story. Most Jardersfolk are sailors, farmers, fisherman, hunters, and traders, but this fact is not as interesting.  In addition to their reputation as fearsome raiders, they are known to be brave and ferocious warriors who will fight until death takes them, but they are also great explorers and storytellers. Storytelling is important to the people of Jardersfell and thus the stories of fearsome raiders are the ones that are told rather than those who farm and fish. Honor plays a large part in their culture and for Jardersfolk, dishonor is often a worse fate than death. At least, according to the Jardersfolk, a person who dies an honorable death in battle will join the gods to feast at their mead halls. Women in Jardersfell are often trained to fight and will often be part of raiding expeditions or on the battlefields during wars. These women are called shieldmaidens.   Jardersfolk are ruled by a High King who is elected amongst all the Jarls who rule whole islands or sections of an island. Jarls will have bequeath sections of lands to chiefs who rule over these lands in the Jarl’s stead.   Jardersfolk are proud warriors, adventurous explorers, and vicious raiders from the Shattered Islands of Jardersfell. Both the men and women of Jardersfell are typically taller than many other humans (but not Miskunasian). Fellmen are known for raiding up and down the coasts of Kadrun and Methas for both gold (and other riches) and thralls.
