World Ember 2024

Week 1

So following my previous World Ember 2023, I have found that my writing has sped up substantially. Due to this, I have been writing a lot more than 10k words/month, which is essentially the goal of world ember. A lot of that this year, 2024, has gone into the Galaxy24 challenge (yes im still doing that) which involves creating a large number of fictional star systems over the span of a year.
I dont think i should put my world ember pledge towards that then.
This year I have considered a lot of things such as drawing the internal components of various starships (right now I actually have an almost complete diagram of a Boson - Class Destroyer), but that's visual and mostly doesnt count towards the goal... That is an aspect of the world I would like to expand though, the interior compartments of my spaceships. I might also get to that as well if i have time...
I have even considered making a TTRPG ruleset for the THF universe, but realised thats not worldbuilding and is thus unsuitable for world ember.

One aspect of my world that I have enjoyed for a long time was the alien species. I now have over 50 alien species, each of them decently thought out. I think for this years world ember, I will focus on their societies and cultures and how they interact with each other. This is an aspect I currently dont actually have a lot of information on now, and I feel like this would improve a large askect of the universe by quite a bit. Cultures is not a thing I am very good at developing currently, but ill do my best. This might mean creating maps for each of those species homeworlds, too.
(I am not locking myself out of developing the Leosus Federation by the way, I can argue they are alien as they dont come from Earth)

Now here's why I pledged 25k rather than trying to go higher despite being already capable of writing that amount on every other month (according to brigid)

The 25k only counts for anything i submit for world ember. As I have mentioned, I am still doing the galaxy24 challenge, so by the end of December Brigid should say my wordcount for that month is much higher. I still feel like 25k is a challenge and ill probably run into burnout issues if i try for 50k.

Week 2

So my home page should be very good currently. I have an elevator pitch, many places to read once they are done seeing it and should give them a decent understanding of the fundamentals of the world just by reading it. The CSS looks very good in my opinion and should convey the mood for the overall world in its current state.
I have no proper introductory article though, so im going to work on that today. Im linking it here: Introductory Article

Week 3

Inspiration comes mostly from playing various video games, but they often keep this kind of lore hidden or abstract. :skull:
I guess i'll, uh, look at Stellaris, or just try and envision what kind of society each species is likely to form.

Week 4

So im already in a chapter, Articles Anonymous, which is already used by several members to track their goals. Honestly I mostly write on my own (i am silly) and i am capable of checking my progress daily and making sure i stay above the minimum of probably around 1000 words daily for WE (adding the galaxy24 challenge to this will be a... chalenge). I forgot if you have to manually submit articles to it for the 25k to count, if it submits everything automatically then i think the galaxy24 stuff woulc count towards it, actually making this years WE easier.
