Unit - Class Battleship
Large, powerful battleship starship of the Karnol Caretakers.
The Unit class, quite notably, features a single, very large weapon. Inspired by Hyperion Federation High Energy Turret Hardpoints, this turreted weapon can be exchanged with a weapon of a different type. As the primary battleship of the KC, it serves a very important role as long range fire support. Due to this, it is unlikely to confront enemies directly, instead supporting those that are by shooting enemy starships with this superheavy weapon.
The starship is, despite being a battleship, only weakly armoured and shielded. This is to save on weight and allow it to be faster, meaning it can be repositioned very easily and rapidly. Enemy missiles and other long range however are likely to hit the Unit class due to its sheer size and slow speed (it is fast for a battleship but still slow). The hull is however made from a relatively strong material. The ship does have a strong CIWS network to compensate for this.
It is also armed with a secondary armament, in case the enemy does come close. The secondary armament is rarely used. They consist of an array of turreted high power lasers and railguns that are mounted in a way that covers every possible angle except from higher dimensions.
It was designed for a requirement of a battleship that needs to come armed with an extremely powerful weapon. It needed to be turreted in order to engage enemies in various different directions more quickly and easily. One caretaker designed the Unit - class designed to fulfill this role. Although Gagarags rarely come aboard such ships (because they are under protection), they sometimes visit Unit - class battleships in museums as a form of entertainment similar to how humans sometimes board their own military ships.
Power Generation
It is powered by 4 different incredibly advanced and powerful cold fusion reactors. They are capable of fusing very large quantities of hydrogen very efficiently through the entire proton-proton chain. These provide the ship with high amounts of power. The KC is experimenting with very rudimentary antimatter reactors, but these have not been put into wide use yet. Hydrogen is stored in several large tanks and used for both propulsion and fusion. After fusion, helium atoms are heated to immense temperatures to help cool the engines and sent out of the ship.
