Caretaker
The AI built by the Gagarag race designed to treat them.
The Caretakers, despite being entirely mechanical and sapient, are not counted as Sentient Robots because the Hyperion Federation did not construct them.
The Caretakeres are a relatively humanoid robot that gave themselves the ability to self replicate. They have a strong capacitor for a battery and can recharge in mere moments. There is also a backup capacitor in case the primary runs out of power. The backup one is purely to find an energy source. If a caretaker runs out of capacitor power, it might cause its death. Charging plugs are usually located on the back and automatically extend into the charging port.
Charging ports are located all over the KC territory.
Maintenance on robots is carried out automatically in various repair stations. It can also be performed by other Caretakers, should the need arise. Due to their creators being the gagarag, the caretakers would usually and initially take up a similar anatomy as the gagarag. They come in a large number of models which would serve various different roles. Robots of the same model appear the same but may have different personalities, but the general arrangement was consistent across caretakers. They could sometimes vary in a range of sizes though, existing within a range of about 2m to 2.4m. The gagarag have 2 arms and 5 strong tentacle-like legs for locomotion. Other than this, they have a mostly humanoid anatomy. For example, infantry bots are large, and have strong armour and are very strong physically. Most of the current models have been designed by the careatkers themselves, but there were also some models that were designed by the gagarag. The organic-designed models have become mostly obsolete (though those with that model have not been dismantled because that would be analagous to a death sentence). Some models may have more than 2 arms for more versatility.
Although most caretakers resemble the gagarag, they can take up many appearances, as of much later when the caretakers took over most of the KC's industrial output. Some are inspired by other species, some can vary in size. Those that are built by other caretakers can be especially different. A few caretakers can resemble HF Freelancers. Some more exotic caretakers can also be a single, large factory, sometimes even populated by other caretakers as workers. By making use of Integrity Field Generator IFGs, they have managed to make themselves very strong. They can sometimes be used as infantry, though they would often build remote controlled robots for that.
Caretaker infantry can thus take a lot more fire than robots of other factions.The Caretakers were built to look after the gagarag and keep the organics happy. The more biological nature of their control systems means that they can apply morality in a more loose sense, so other species that live under the KC would probably also fall under their protection. Altough Caretaker brains are designed to make use of quantum effects and act more similar to biological brains, they are smaller and more compact. They are smart, but not hyperintelligent. They specialise in many fields of engineering, allowing them to invent machines like the Integrity Field Generator IFG, which is iconic and virtually exclusive to the Karnol Caretakers.
