Uleklartat - Class Battleship

Powerful battleship design used by the Grand Artanat Empire.

Power Generation

It is powered by a large fusion reactor located in the center of the ship to protect it from fire. It is fuelled by a small hydrogen tank placed near the reactor. It expels deuterium out as exhaust.

Propulsion

The battleship may feature several large engines which work by nuclear fusion and then directin the resulting radiation rearwards with magnetic fields, but it is primarily propelled by Graviton Wave Refraction drives that work similar to FTL drives. This gives the battleship a surprisingly high speed, which is consistent with the blitzkreig doctrine of the GAE. These battleships have been designed with that doctrine in mind.

Weapons & Armament

The Uleklartat - Class is about 5 km in length, which is small for a battleship of a major faction. However, it sports 4 large primary weapons, mounted in turrets, with single barrels. These weapons are very large and allow it to punch above its weight especially when used in numbers like the rest of GAE doctrine. These weapons are large, conventional cannons. The Uleklartat - Class is also armed with a secondary battery consisting of various frequencies of lasers and plasma cannons. This allows it to target smaller ships that attempt to threaten it. It also has several laser CIWS turrets which are surprisingly advanced for a faction like the GAE. These target missiles and other small objects and make the craft difficult to destroy using missiles.

Armor and defense

It is armoured with several layers of an advanced material involving a large amount of carbon nanotubes, airgaps and in some cases electron QCD matter (white dwarf star material). Though not as advanced or strong as TGX Composite, it is still highly powerful and strong. In large amounts it can in rare cases prove a challenge for even Hyperion Federation weapons to damage it, though it is not particularly focused on armour.

Communication Tools & Systems

The GAE still does not have superluminal communication technology. Due to this, they have to rely on courier ship (or drone) loaded with all the information to send to the recipient. This can make superluminal communication difficult for the GAE, but possible. The battleship comes with courier drones to send these messages. The GAE also does not have superluminal sensors. They rely on sending similar courier drones to the front for scouting purposes. These drones are more advanced and are highly stealthy, so they can often remain hidden from more advanced factions.
