Tralais II
A planet located in the Tralais System, owned by the Grand Artanat Empire.
Tralais II is a large gas giant, like many other plantes in the system. Tralais II is unique for it is tidally locked with the center of the parent stars, meaning that one side faces the stars at all time but the other side is in an eternal night. This causes one side to be much hotter than the other, and sometimes a powerful wind from the eternal day side to the eternal night side. This wind brings heat from the day side though, so that the night side is not as cold as a tidally locked world normally is. Due to these extremely powerful winds, it is very difficult to harvest material from the planet or interact with the planet in any way that requires contact. However, the GAE has succeeded in harvesting some material from the planet using gas collection stations similar to most others except it makes use of the extreme wind to harvest material and force it up the extraction cable, significantly reducing the energy requirement of the platform itself. The momentum transferred from the wind means these stations can be knocked out of their orbit, so they often come with a package that allows them to change velocity and end back up on the original orbit. This same upgrade package also allows them to restore altitude in the event of altitude loss.
