Rillesnaz

A gas giant planet in the Aurigae System.
Rillesnaz is smaller than Zanrilles. It does however have 2 large asteroid rings and several warm moons. These would be too hot to inhabit, but not like a full lava world. These moons would be geologically active because of al the tidal influence the parent planet, as well as its moons, would have. Some of these gas giant satellites have their own natural satellites. As such, it often required a lot of fuel to reach these while the Phelke race was new to spacefaring.   The gas giant itself is quite hot, but despite this has a mostly hydrogen atmosphere. This has been largely extracted from the gas giant and used in fusion power or, later, as matter plasma.   When the phelke first attempted extracting material from the gas giant, an accident of significant proportions occured. A natural storm on the surface of the planet has pulled one of the extraction stations from its orbit which has caused a collision with another gas giant collector. This was detected by both stations preemptively, giving almost all station workers time to evacuate. About 10% of those on the stations were killed as they collided with each other, eventually becoming extremely compressed wreckages at the core of the gas giant. This accident has caused the phelke people to become scared of gas extraction stations, so this industry was almost completely stopped for a long time. This led to the dismantlement of multiple other stations. The phelke thus found starship and fusion reactor fuel in other ways, making it more expensive...   When they discovered so many other factions doing a similar thing, they discoverede that this method was more safe than they thought. Several hundred years after that, they finally legalised gas giant extraction once more, and though the wrecked stations could not be recovered, new stations were built. They continue the legacy of the broken stations. There is now also a large memorial station in high orbit around Rillesnaz, which does not interfere with the extraction operation or logistics. It is a remoinder of the importance of space safety and that the metal walls are all that stand between a starship's crew and the Black.
