Jalasans

An ethnicity of the Aquris species.

The Jalasans have adapted to a more land based life than other aquris. They have not diverged from the main Aquris species, but tend to have slightly smaller fins and larger lungs to improve oxygen circulation on land. They can still operate very effectively underwater, but not as effectively. They are also one of the very few ethnicities of aquris to have a more crimson red skin as opposed to blue or green. Although it is unknown how this skin pigment came into existence, it has sometimes caused discrimination among aquris, but this issue has been mostly fixed after the Leosus Federation joined the Hyperion Federation.

The Jalasans have invented a number of technologies in history for their species despite their relatively low population. Their culture promotes innovation and technology despite the discrimination and have managed to conquer several small sections of the Leosus Ring World, particularly those that previously belonged to the human species. They could also effectively fight off any other aquris invaders that attack from the oceans as they are better adapted for land travel and more innovations improving the land effectiveness of their ethnicity relative to the water. They simply let the enemy attack and run into their defensive line, disadvantaged. This did also make it nearly impossible for the Jalasans to launch offensives on these cultures.

Although they made for a terrifying fighting force, individuals did not appear to mimic this strength. Individual jalasans would sometimes be killed or injured by raiding parties or wildlife. This would lead to some adventures bringing their own weapons with them, which prompted more attacks by sentient species but gained the ability to protect themselves.
