Halnrej

A barren world orbiting the Xaolia gas giant. 
Halnrej has a thick, toxic atmosphere. Because of this, radiation from the star becomes trapped in its atmosphere which warms up the planet. It is much warmer than most other planets orbiting Xaolia.
It also captures a significant volume of asteroids. All of these burn up completely in the atmosphere. The large size of the world also gives it a strong gravity. However, there is an abundance of rare metals on the world. Despite the conditions, the Micars Empire mines it, providing a lot of gold and iridium to the Micars Empire. Much of this is used in Federation-wide construction projects such as Dyson Spheres.
There are also several space elevators that are not used anymore. Teleporters replaced them. These have raised safety concerns with asteroids falling into the elevator, but all this would do at worst is cut the cable and the station at the top flies away. Asteroids are highly unlikely to do a decent amount of damage anyway.
