Alt'tla - Class Destroyer
Destroyer starship commonly used by the Sulethis Republic.
The Alt'tla, like all SR starships, is controlled remotely and sometimes autonomously. As such, it has no life support system.The destroyer is designed for more long range engagements, so it is armed with a number of powerful railguns which have a high velocity. This is partly what gives the ship so much firepower and it can even punch above its weight class due to the armour piercing property that railguns normally have. As not many weapons have this much range outside of missiles, it is also designed with a strong PDC network giving it a surprisingly strong protection. Even the Cypher Dominion and HEX Mainframe can have trouble destroying Alt'tlas used in mass.
It was designed after the requirement for a small, fast ship armed with several high power railguns giving it long range has raised. Since then, it has received various upgrade packages to keep up with advances in technology for both the SR and other factions of the Fortrais Galaxy Cluster. However, as the railguns for this destroyer are so large it can only store a number of railgun shells inside itself. These are comparatively large railgun shells too, which makes logistics more difficult with this ship. Also it has a comparatively weak armour and shield in attempts to save on mass and give it a high speed. This did work out in the end though, as at such long ranges the extra speed allows it to evade many projectiles.
Power Generation
The ship is powered by 2 highly advanced fusion reactors with a decently high efficiency. These give the ship enough power to fire the railguns often, but ammo is the more significant constraint. This is fueled by a large hydrogen tank close to the powerplant.
Propulsion
It is propelled by multiple large fusion thrusters that can give it a high acceleration which helps in its role of a small and fast ship. The thrusters are fueled from a separate tank from the main reactor, but the ship was designed in a way to allow fuel to travel between the 2 fuel tanks.
