2nd battle of Ralenat
A battle fought during the 1st Hyperion - HEX War.
The battle was fought over a planet of the Hyperion Federation called Ralenat. Ralenat was initially a HF world before the war started, but the HM invaded and captured it. The HF retook the planet in this battle. This battle saw a lot of use of ATVs and Flying Discs. This is because the HEX Mainframe was expecting the HF to teleport their forces straight to the ground. Hyperion intel found this out so they deployed ATVs and discs instead. Only once the majority of HM forces were cleared did the HF teleport ground forces as usual. The HM did not let go of the planet without a fight however, and fought hard and smart as usual. The battle opened with a significant orbital bombardment of key HM positions and anti air weapons, to clear the airspace for their ATVs and Flying Discs. This bombardment was brief but intense, the HF using every orbital weapon they could use against the HM oppressors.In order to keep their intentions hidden for as long as possible, the HF deployed many kinds of ewar and informational warfare technologies. This included use of holograms on the surface to fool HM defenders and intense radar and communications jamming. While the HM was 'clearing' their systems from hyperionite influence, the HF was already performing many air raids and HM AA was crippled in particular, allowing their Flying Discs to fly with almost no risk and provide invaluable support to ground troopers while weakening HM anti ground defences. The HM would make comebacks though, adding AA weapons to their ground defences that survived most of the air raids. This has somewhat thwarted hyperionite efforts to liberate their planet, but the war was not over.
