Skill Circlets
What is a skill circlet?
These sought-after magic items make learning and teaching skills more easily. They come in two forms, "Skill Archive" circlets, aka Apprentice circlets, and "Skilltaker" circlets, aka Master circlets. Masters wear Skilltakers to contribute to the functioning of Skill Archives.
What kinds of skills can be put into a skill circlet?
This is largely limited by the creativity of the creator of the circlets. Only the fundamental rarity of skill circlets prevents them from being made for every petty purpose that anyone ever wanted to have done in an easier, more consistent mode. Unusual skill circlets amuse the land gods, so there are even Meta-Skill circlets that encourage people to notice skill-like patterns so that new skills can be developed. Note however that the first of a particular kind of skill circlet must be made in a Master-Apprentice pair, so that there is someone whose skill can be modeled and transferred by the skil circlet. The best apprentice skill circlets have many master circlets associated with them, so unusual skill archive circlets have little value by comparison.
Where are skill circlets made?
In theory, geomancers can be blessed to produce these anywhere. In practice, most of them are made in theomes with a Specialist Fate Beacon, where the necessary blessing is widely available and skill circlets are most easily made. The theomes which produce them can have substantially varied attitudes towards them. For instance, in Imraziu and the League Tonturaseer, the skill circlets are market items with high prices, whereas in Jadarkontalyia and Hydalath they are sacred items with a taboo against selling them.
Where are skill circlets most valued?
These magic items have markets everywhere, and only the fear that they'll spontaneously fizzle when carried across a theome boundary prevents them from circulating widely to find their highest price. Yet of all the theomes, those which are under Regularity beacons such as Taisatinrun and Inrakaveach are the ones known to pay the most for skill circlets, for the loss in individual creativity is a small price to pay for the gain in regular performance of the skill which the skill circlets enable.
