Corrupted Onu

The Accursed

In the dark corners of the world, there can be found menaces, monsters of ancient times that would seek to bring death and destruction to mortal races. Some of the most dangerous are descendants of the Onu, those of their number that were taken by the Ynue during their war, and corrupted beyond recognition. While the Ynue violently exterminated most of the Onu, these few they kept alive. They tortured and mutilated them, and infused them with the Ynue's dark intentions until they were unrecognizable.
Such beings have many names, but they are known among academics as Corrupted Onu.

History

They used to be much more common in the world, but over time they were hunted and pushed out of the world over time.
There used to be frequent attacks from such creatures, prompting the creation of many militant orders, all of which have now either been disbanded or reformed their purpose.
The Ynue occasionally attempt te reawaken one of these ancient beings from their slumber, but they cannot be controlled by them, as they remember their torture, and strike down in anger anything in their path.

Types

All corrupted Onu are unique in appearance and behavior, some of them are more reasonable than others. Some simply want to live out the rest of eternity in peace, while others seek a violent death, to match their violent lives, and others have even more so lost their sanity.
There isn't a definable type of corrupted Onu, even if some are very similar. It is assumed that they were all created from different types of One, knowledge of which has been completely lost.

Vengeance

Ironically, it are often also Ynue worshippers who try to weaponize these beings, and which often leads in their own deaths, because most of the corrupted Onu hate the Ynue with a passion, only the most insane of them willingly carry out the will of one of these dark lords.

The most recent example of a corrupted Onu is the being known as Skellekul, on the Naenian archipelago.

Tainted Mystics

Some of the Corrupted Onu have the ability to affect Yanu's more magical creations, especially the mystic races, they are able to influence their natural behavior to mimic their own, not all of them have this, and it wears off over time, when individuals are removed from such an Onu's presence, but the longer the presence lasted, the more it becomes engrained into them.
