Ravagers

The Race of the Deep

These are the Forsakens foot soldiers, they do not belong to any one of them specifically, rather, they were created to serve their goals as a whole. These beings do not enter the world lightly, as doing so would be considered the start of a war. A war in which the Velen would surely take a side. They reside in the faraway places of the world, in northern forests, and in caves far beneath the ground. Sometimes they venture near human settlements, to raid, slaughter, and leave no trace behind.

Appearance

Their shadow is that of a beast, they are hairy, with fangs, and sharp claws, but with odd, near-human features, that make them look especially uncanny. Their size rivals that of a black bear, towering over humans with their bright human eyes, and especially, human ears. Their noses resemble those of hogs, flat and wet, they have short muzzles, with large sharp teeth, and the males, with tusks like a boar. Their hands are oddly human, except with thick sharp claws, and much more hair. Their arms and legs are thick and muscular, obscured by fur. Their tails are short, with tufts of hair at the end, which only make them look a little longer. They also have four sets of two nipples, something that won't be visible in the men, but is so with the females, although they aren't known for their large breasts, as that would be most unpractical.

The Minds of the Wild

They are people like any other, adapted to live in the most remote and harshest parts of the world, and at the same time, they have been conditioned by the Forsaken to embody their ideals, the ideal of change, of freedom, of the destruction of the Velen. They are smart, as smart as any human, and with personalities just as varied. The biggest difference is that they are visited neither by Morpheus nor Moraia, as their power has no influence over beings that come from the Forsaken, Therefore their dreams are much more random, representative of their subconscious desires and experiences.

Culture

Their cultures differ per region and population, but there are a number of commonalities, such as their opposition to being ruled by others, especially other ravagers. They will accept any superior appointed to them by the forsaken, but outside of such a divine right to rule, they will simply do their own thing, insisting on living in small families. They practice polygamy, in the way where the females will seek out the strongest man, and attempt to get him to put up with her, no small task, as ravager women a true handful. They recognize no tribal leaders or kings, and will violently remind anyone of their freedom, when they attempt to assert dominance over them.   children are raised by their mothers, and father, and when all grown up, at some point they will choose to leave, the women will try to find the best man they can get, and the men will roam the wilds for a good place to settle, preferably finding some suitable wives along the way. The easiest way to find a place to start a family is by finding an existing family house, killing the current owner, and just moving in. While men may clash amongst each other, they usually pay the women no mind, unless they fight back. When such a home is taken, the women with children will leave, and those without will probably attempt to get the new man of the house to let them stay, often he will say no, unless he is very desperate.

Tools and Weapons

The ravagers are unable to melt bronze on their own, while Soreithra is not able to actively surveil her flames, once a fire grows hot enough, she will be inclined to take a peak, for human smiths this simply means they have to be careful to not anger her, and although it is not impossible for her to miss a hot fire here and there, for ravagers, this almost always means certain death.   Instead the most common among them are flint knives, and well-crafted wooden clubs, which they are able to make themselves easily. And although they are not able to make bronze themselves, it is still a coveted material among them, and they will actively look to acquire it, either by raiding human settlements, or by finding traders desperate enough to bargain with them. The most common way they obtain this precious metal is by bargaining with waylings, servants of the Forsaken.   They mostly desire bronze axes, knives, and clubs, the former two are useful tools, and the latter won't go blunt quickly. While swords are arguably better for fighting, the bronze wears down quickly, and it is not cheap, especially among the ravagers.

Times of War

Ravagers will only band together to go to war, when commanded by the Forsaken or one of their representatives, they can never be bothered to work together unless it is in that situation and for that reason.

Every now and then there is a ravager king, appointed by the forsaken, who unites all the ravagers and invades a human kingdom, and it is at that point when the Velen interfere, sending their own divine representatives, and have the ravagers sent back into their dark corners, having brought them to near extinction.

Reproduction

Ravagers are capable of reproducing rather quickly, as they usually have four to six children at a time, and they will grow to adulthood in less than ten years, reaching sexual maturity in eight. Although most of their children never reach adulthood, due to the harsh nature of the lands they inhabit, and the struggles and fighting they do with each other, all of this combined makes their population very resistant to being slaughtered and genocided against.

Magic

Ravagers are capable of magic just like any of the other races, they see it as a useful tool to become more powerful, and are not known for their care and restraint. Many of the ravaged mages inevitable either die, or go insane from overuse of the contagion   See Aetherium  for more info about the contagion.

Nicely written article that tells you plenty in few words. Do they have a technology level? Do they have steel, bronze, or stone tools?
