Georlin in The World of Velen | World Anvil

Georlin

God of the Earth

Georlin was one of the first wayfarers to join this world, along with Tauqa, and while Tauqa became the lord of the sea, Georlin became the master of the earth. He contributed to the raising of mountains, the sinking of landmasses, and much of the world's formation.

Activities

During his early years, Georlin was mostly busy maintaining the world, particularly the rocks, the sands, and all of the earth. He was their sheppard and their guardian. He worked together with Soreithra to create the molten core of the world, which would allow continental drift, and by extension, the eternal changing and evolving of the world.    When living creatures came into the world he was overjoyed, his work could finally be appreciated by living beings, as well as his fellow gods, and especially the first of the sentient, the Halimites, were deep within Georlins heart, he even made an effort to bring more salt to the surface, so they may live more freely.

Later Years

When Luminara died, Georlin was shocked, she had been a respected member of the gods, although he hadn't spent much time with her, but when Trezhkgal started making a ruckus, seemingly prepared for a war, Georlin had to stand with Soreithra. And as a result of his stance, and his commitment to protect those whom he had worked with to create the world, for that he was killed. The death of Georlin was what all consider to be a true start of the war, the point of no return.

Artifacts

Georlin's artifact is that of the geode, a strange earthen construction that looks just like a regular boulder, but this boulder is hollow on the inside. It has the ability to store great amounts of magical energy, and it is the only known object that can store multiple magical energies at the same time. However, it is rather large, and moving it requires at least four men and two oxen. Its current location is in the palace of the Dragon King of the east.

Ancient Magic

When he had been alive, Georlin had his own ambient energy, that people could use to do magic with. It had been a clear brown color, of dried clay, and it had allowed people to manipulate rock, to move it and shape it, although it required quite a lot of strength and skill to do so safely and properly. It was easy to strain ones self by moving more rock than the body could handle, which could have caused any number of inuries.

Rebirth

Georlin's corpse struck the ground in the east of the world, in the Tibetan mountains, where it was formed into a large, god-sized solid mound of rock and obsidian, and there he lay. This mound could not be damaged, harvested or changed in any way, and there he lay, slumbering. Until one day, for an unknown reason, the mound awoke, and the ancient god rose anew.   Read more about his reborn state in the article: Georgoth

Personality

Georlin had been a calm god, quietly, dutifully tending to his rocks. He was known for his kind nature.
And while he was not among the most powerful of the gods, or the most popular, most of them got along with him just fine.
