Galinstrann

Galinstrann, sometimes also Galinstrand and Galisen, is an old, mostly elven country that has strong connections to Feywild. The roots that pierce the earth throughout the land lead to a massive Hearttree whose highest branches reach high as the mountains. Some elves believe the tree leads to the afterlife those whose earthly time has reached its end.

Geography

On the map, Galinstrann resembles a tree, which has led many outsiders to think that it's the legendary tree spoken of in myth where Árei traveled to find peace after he and Agar chose their different paths. The coastal area is difficult to navigate due to narrow passages and the numerous islands, and many locals are thus skilled sailors.   The land is covered in old forests in many places, and near what is considered the center of the nation grows a Hearttree whose thick roots are a visible part of the structure of the capital city surrounding it.

Governing

Galinstrann is ruled by Linn Etenhil, often called Three Sages in the common tongue. Their true identities are not known to the common folk, and even very few nobles are privy to the information. Sometimes, only the person known in Nyver as Taorahil, and in the common tongue both as the Speaker and the Voice - latter rarely used in the eastern parts of Agar due to the mythical role by the same name - has seen the faces of all three and is the only one to always know when one retires or is replaced, even in cases where the change would otherwise be kept a secret. The Linn Etenhil chooses a replacement together with them, and they are the one to make all announcements from the Three as well as working as a link between them and the people.   Linn Etenhil is made up of Maimetirighil, who is familiar with commerce, Magíl, who is familiar with military matters, and Olúivhil, who specialises in history and myths.

Political Relations

Galistrann has tried to remain independant, and has rarely warmly welcomed visitors. It's however not a country closed off from outsiders, and it does trade with foreign nations, mostly for luxury goods such as jewelry and cloth.   Galistrann has a close relationship with the Feywild due to the permanent Gate that allows passage between the two locations. Many fey creatures have made their home in the land, and there is an agreement between the two to defend each other due to how losing one to an enemy can mean they could infiltrate the other. So far, joining military forces has not been necessary.

Peace

Toshan and Galinstrann aren't very close diplomatically despite being each other's closest bigger nations. Toshan has a history of treating its elves poorly, and Galinstrann, a mostly elven state, is well aware of this. Most often, an independant merchant might sail to Toshan to sell magical items that are generally hard to come by there.
