The Isle of Popkin

The Isle of Popkin Visitor's Guide The Isle of Popkin was discovered over 500 years ago, in 4225, by the human explorer, Captain C. Damon, who named it for his patron, the Earl of Popkin. Even though the island is hundreds of miles from the nearest continent, it drew many human settlers who built ranches and plantations. Elven mages discovered that the Isle had unique magical features, and were granted permission from the human government to build an arcane research university at the top of the tallest volcano.   The island is made up of 5 volcanos. The oldest, Amaan'iska, is believed to be extinct. Amaan Moridin, the tallest, hasn't erupted in tens of thousands of years, and is probably dead according to wizardly experts. Amaan Din is the largest volcano overall, and still erupts every few decades. Amaan Dar is relatively small and quiet, but an eruption in 4744 caused a lava flow that nearly destroyed the town of New Emon. Amaan'ghul is the youngest and most active volcano, and has been continuously erupting for centuries. The names of the volcanos come from the ancient language of the Isle's native Popkin Dragonborn and Beach Dwarf inhabitants.   The two largest settlements on the Isle of Popkin are the port city of Daaven, to the east, and the capital city of Hightower, to the west.
