The Southreach

The Southreach is the coastal region of Iphelon, stretching twenty or so kilometers from the south coastline. Distinguished from the rest of Iphelon by having a climate similar to Halor's north, borders for the Southreach are more nebulously defined than meticulously mapped out. Home of Port Arrival and the other Halori ports on Iphelon, the Southreach is generally mild enough year round to allow travelers going by sea to arrive and depart, though in the winter months no crops can grow. It is also home to one of the oldest temples of the Paladins of Verol, and the Shrine of the Godsword. The Southreach is a political turbulent place, and most of Iphelon's inhabitants prefer the north, despite its harsh weather, as both the Paladins of Verol and Halori Empire are willing to use force against anyone they suspect is in the Southreach to make an attempt to flee Iphelon. Outsiders are frequently surprised when they head north out of the Southreach and find that the inhabitants of Iphelon are more sophisticated and developed than they first believed.
