Port Arrival

A final extension of the Halori Empire's will on Iphelon, Port Arrival is one of a series of small fortified docks set into Iphelon's craggy southern shore. Those who arrive have one final chance to stop at the bastions of civilization afforded by the Empire and the Church of the Unsung God before heading north into the wilderness, though many choose not to do so, continuing on with heads down to the rest of the prison island.   A large handful of exiles do stay, however, and Port Arrival has more than six-hundred occupants, more of whom are exiles than Halori. To increase security, the areas closest to the docks are restricted to Halori only at night, and carefully searched before sun-down, though most of the exiles living in Port Arrival are content with their situation away from the more oppressive culture of the mainland.   Port Arrival has food, room, and advice for any who are heading into exile or seeking their fortune in the wildernesses of Iphelon, and most travelers do well to stay there for at least a few hours to get guidance and supplies.

Demographics

~250 Halori, 400 exiles

Government

Military outpost run by the Halori Empire and the Church of the Unsung God

Defences

Palisades are set against the wilderness. More important to prevent prisoners from trying to escape is the long and fortified pier. Boats are secured by a series of long pikes set into the water around them; any seeking to surreptitiously board must swim around the lethal barriers, and even then this is unlikely. Any attempt to hijack a boat takes at least a half-hour to pass the barricades and checkpoints, at which point the boat would sail away for Halor, returning later with soldiers from the mainland to quell the rebellion.

Infrastructure

Port Arrival contains a longhouse for itinerant travelers under the protection of the Church of the Unsung God, as well as a small palisade separating it from the rest of Iphelon.   There is a paved courtyard from which the official business of the Halori Empire is done, though Port Arrival now exists solely as a landing zone: only the Halori and the members of the Church ever leave, and appeals are no longer heard.
